Why should Contractors list in every city they make service calls to?
When Local Exchange Carriers are looking for a contractor in another state, they don't know what cities are near one another. They do know that if their customer is in the very small town you listed under, that you will service that town! If you only listed in the big city next to it (to save $0.50/year), they are not going to know the geography of the area and won't use you. They will call/use your competitor who listed there or if no one is listed there, we have made their job more difficult. See next 2 questions and answers.
What if I just list in the more well known cities (bigger)?
The goal of this website is for you to list in each and every city you will make service calls to. This will make it easier for your potential customers to know exactly if you will come to their city and it will help the competitive local exchange carriers, since they could be looking you up from another state and don't know the area. We have clients get calls from CLECs or individuals asking if they serve a specific small town; if the website is loaded properly that would answer it for them. Also if you list in each city/town you make service calls to there will generally be less advertisers (better chance you will be called) than in the larger cities (where your competition is advertising). In 2003/2004 we will probably be adding 50%-75% of the cities that are in each state (the search routine will tell whether there is a listing or not), then it will make it even more difficult for your potential customers to find you unless they live in the major cities that you and everybody else are advertising in! You will also have a competitive advantage by listing in all cities you service (you will not have the competition of all the Contractors only advertising in the larger cities!). If that doesn't convince you, there is a $25-$50/year additional charge (to encourage you to list in all cities so you have a better chance of eliminating your competition and getting more business) for listing in non-continuous geographic areas. See above and next questions and answers.
What does "Non-Continuous Geographic Area" mean?
If you select two of the larger cities near you to list under...lets say they are 18 miles apart, and lets say there are 2 smaller cities that you have to travel through to get to the other large city. Since you didn't select the cities in-between, you don't have a continuous geographic listing. If you listed under all 4 of these cities, it would be a Continuous Geographic Area (which is what we want). See above 2 questions and answers.
Why do you charge more for each additional city?
The more cities you travel to, the bigger your business, the more customers you will have. To get more coverage you generally pay more $$.
How do I update / change my business listing information?
Please complete the Advertising Info Form with only your name, e-mail, company name and ONLY the fields you want to update / change. There is no charge to update information. Requested updates will occur on or about the next 15th or 31st of the month and you will receive a confirmation e-mail when the requested change has been made.
How do I renew my business listing?
Please determine that you are listed under all cities / towns that are willing to travel to. Advertising rates and information on why you should list under each and every city you are willing to serve can be found on our Advertising Info page and on this FAQ page. Your yearly advertising rate is determined by how big your service area is (the number of cities / towns you are listed under). Upon your listing renewal you may change the number of cities / towns you show as your service area (we recommend staying the same or increasing your service towns for more visibility). Renewal payments may be made by Credit Card or Electronic Funds Transfer via PayPal( PayPal Account Not Required when using payment buttons on our renewal page ) or by using PayPal payment address: billing@TelephoneServiceDirectory.com or by sending check or money order via mail; contact us for directions.
Why don't you list Contractors by ZIP Code?
For contractors who list in, lets say 30 cities; in many areas there are probably 40 or more zip codes covering these cities. From our experience most contractors will make service calls to an entire city. Also many of the Local Exchange Carriers we have dealt with more readily know they need a contractor in a certain city versus a zip code.
If we provided a search for a contractor by distance (via zip code), this will tell your potential customers the closest physical location of where contractors (you) operate out of, but it will not necessarily tell them if the contractor (you) will come the distance to the customer that is inquiring.
Also if your potential customer searches by zip code distance, they will see many more choices to call versus if we just have them find you by the cities you serve. This way they are only looking at 1 cities' listing of contractors...less choices to choose from, more potential business for you!
By listing you under each and every city you serve; individuals who search for contractors using a city name in a search engine will find you in this directory; whereas they will not find you if you were only listed by Zip Code.
Why don't you list Contractors by County?
Some Counties in the U.S. are greater than 200 square miles (100 miles across by 200 miles tall). Many contractors will not travel (make service calls to) to all areas in a County.
